Seeing Sound through the act of Touching Sound
Oto wo Miru emerged from the sensation of engaging directly with the moment sound comes into perception, along with the memory and trace it leaves behind.
The process unfolds by tracing a single fish-string attached to a piano wire, producing continuous vibration by rubbing the string with the fingers. As the long line is followed around the piano, its movement draws a visible route of sound within an installation mounted on the piano wire and percussion instruments, constructed entirely of fish-strings. With each circulation, the route gradually layers upon itself, and the accumulated lines intensify the vibration, generating increasingly complex frequencies. The space becomes both a visual and sonic archive of sound.
